GET BACK YOUR RECYCLE BIN

Recycle Bin is used to keep unnecessary files or folder. Some of my blog visitors asked about this problem that how they can get back their recycle bin after deleting it on windows XP.

You can use this method to get back recycle bin. 

Important Note.

For this purpose you will have to modify the Registry. It is strongly recommended that if you have some basic knowledge of registry then you can try it. Otherwise some serious problems might occur if you modify the Registry incorrectly. Now let’s try it. Follow these steps carefully to edit the registry to make the Recycle Bin icon reappear on your desktop.

i.  Click START and then click RUN

ii.  Now type “ regedit” and then click OK.

iii. Locate the following registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsfot\windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Desktop\namespace 

iv. Right click the registry key that you located in number(iii), Point to new and then click key.

v.  Now Type {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} and press Enter.

vi.  After this click the new {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} key.

vii. In the right, use your mouse to double click the default entry.

viii.   You will see a “Edit string dialog box”. Type Recycle Bin in the value data box and finally click OK.

ix.   Now close your registry Editor and check your desktop.

x.    You will see recycle Bin icon on your desktop wall.

1.Open IIS7.0

2.Check the domain to change the Asp version.

3.Open the Application pool for the domains.

4.Right click on the domain and select the advanced settings in the First option shows the ASP.net version.

5.Click on the version and find the version and change press ok.It will reflect on the site.In case it is not reflected in the site restart the ASP.net services from services.msc.

Windows has two features to help you use the computer without using a mouse or keyboard: Speech Recognition (you can use voice commands to work with Windows) and On-Screen Keyboard (you can enter text by selecting characters on the screen).

You can turn on or adjust settings for these features on the Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard page in the Ease of Access Center.

* Open the Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard page by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Ease of Access, clicking Ease of Access Center, and then clicking Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard.

* Select the options that you want to use:

                * Use On-Screen Keyboard. This option sets On-Screen Keyboard to run when you log on to Windows. On-Screen Keyboard displays a visual keyboard with all the standard keys. You can select keys using the mouse or another pointing device, or you can use keys on the standard keyboard. For more information about using On-Screen Keyboard

              * Use Speech Recognition. Use this option to control the computer with your voice. With a microphone, you can speak commands that the computer will understand and respond to, as well as dictate text. For more information about setting up Speech Recognition.

You can create keyboard shortcuts to open programs. Before you get started, you need to create a shortcut for the program to which you want to assign a keyboard shortcut. To do this, open the folder that contains the program's executable file, right-click it, and then click Create Shortcut. 

* Locate the shortcut to the program that you want to create a keyboard shortcut for.

* Right-click the shortcut, and then click Properties.

* In the Shortcut Properties dialog box, click the Shortcut tab.

* Click in the Shortcut key box, press the key on your keyboard that you want to use in combination with Ctrl+Alt (keyboard shortcuts automatically start with Ctrl+Alt), and then click OK.If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

If you're using a program that also has a keyboard shortcut using the same key combination as the shortcut you just created, then your shortcut might not work.

Follow these steps to quickly find the Internet Protocol (IP) and Media Access Control (MAC) address of a computer running Microsoft Windows XP or newer versions of Windows.

1. Click the Start menu button on the Windows taskbar.

2. Click 'Run...' on this menu.

3. Type 'cmd' in the text box that appears. A command prompt window launches on the desktop.

4. In this command window, type 'ipconfig /all'. Details are shown for each of the computer's network adapters. Computers installed with VPN software or emulation software will possess one or more virtual adapters.

5.The 'IP Address' field states the current IP address for that network adapter.

6.The 'Physical Address' field states the MAC address for that adapter.

Even if you're a computer user keen on keeping your system healthy (i.e., you regularly delete unnecessary files, empty the Recycle Bin, and run Disk Defragmenter), you may be unaware of a potentially big waster of hard disk space: duplicate files. Applications can litter your hard disk with duplicate files, or you can actually create duplicate files by copying files from one folder to another.

Windows XP's default installation doesn't provide you with a decent utility for tracking down duplicate files. However, Microsoft does have a tool called Duplicate Finder, which is part of the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support Tools. Here's how to install and use the Duplicate Finder tool:

1. Download the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support Tools and follow the instructions for installing the Complete installation version.

2. Open the Run dialog box by pressing [Windows]R.

3. Type Dupfinder in the Open text box and click OK.

4. Once DupFinder loads, simply select the drive or folder to search and then click the Start Search button.

5. When DupFinder completes its search, you can scan through the list and examine the duplicate files.

Here are tips for working with the list of duplicate files:

* Use either the Print Report or Export Data commands on the File menu to create a permanent record of the duplicate files.

* Use the Sort command on the View menu to reorganize the list for better analysis.

* To get more detailed information about any file, select the file, pull down the File menu, and select the Info command.

* Leave duplicate files in the Windows folder and its sub folders alone.

* If you don't recognize the duplicate file, it's better to use the Rename or Move commands on the File menu rather than the Delete command.

Note: This tip applies to both Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional.

If you find yourself locked out of your Windows because you lost or forgot your password, here are some things you could do.

* First, do you have the administrator password? Login as an admin and change the password of your user ID. 

* NEW: If you are an Administrator user, and are logged into Windows right now because your PC is setup to log you in automatically, but have forgotten your password in fact, and would now like to change it — well, Windows requires you to know the old one. However, there is a brute force way to change your Administrator password. Open a Command prompt (START —> RUN —> then type "cmd" without the double quotes) and then type the following command:

Code:

net user username newpassword

Remember, if the username has spaces in it, then enclose it in double quotes, e.g.,

Code:

net user "XYZ" mynewPassword

This would change XYZ password to mynewPassword provided XYZ was an Administrator user.

* Don't have admin access? Well, you can get it if you wish by downloading a cool utility from Thomas Mathiesen to recover Windows password if you have forgotten it.

* Or, you could just download this program to reset Windows XP / 2000 / NT security if the Administrator password, secure boot password, or the key disk is lost.

* NTAccess can replace the administrator password of a Windows XP, Windows NT or Windows 2000 system by rebooting the computer with a special set of boot disks or CD-ROM (XP only). This is useful if you forgot the administrator password and cannot access the Windows XP/2000/NT system.

* Petter N Hagen has put together an Offline NT Password & Registry Editor, which is basically a single floppy or CD containing everything you need to edit the passwords on most Windows systems.

Setting up a Proxy Server on Windows

A proxy server is one that receives requests intended for another server and that acts on the behalf of the client (as the client proxy) to obtain the requested service. A proxy server is often used when the client and the server are incompatible for direct connection. For example, the client may be unable to meet the security authentication requirements of the server but may be required to access some services. It may also be used for screening purposes to enable the administrator to control access to undesirable sites. The proxy server may also be used for caching purposes which enables faster access to frequently used websites. All the computers connected to the LAN access the Internet through a single IP address which results in improved security simply because the number of ports exposed is reduced.

Proxy servers work on the seventh layer (the Application Layer) of the OSI model thus tending to be application dependent unlike firewalls that work at lower layers. They are also more difficult to install and maintain than firewalls, as proxy functionality for each application protocol like HTTP, SMTP, or SOCKS must be configured individually. However, a properly configured proxy server improves network security and performance. Since proxy servers function at the OSI Application layer, their filtering capabilities are relatively intelligent. For example, proxy web servers can check the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) of outgoing requests for Web pages by inspecting HTTP GET and POST messages. Using this feature, network administrators can bar access to illegal domains but allow access to other sites. Ordinary firewalls, in contrast, cannot see Web domain names inside those messages. Likewise for incoming data traffic, ordinary routers can filter by port number or network address, but proxy servers can also filter based on application content inside the messages.

WinProxy

One of the most popular proxy servers available for Windows based systems is WinProxy. One of the reasons for its popularity is that no software has to be installed on the client systems. This is possible since WinProxy is a transparent proxy server meaning that it also provides NAT (Network Address Translation). Due to this the client system is virtually unaware of the existence of the proxy server. Apart from the usual caching and security features it also supports important protocols like HTTP, Real Audio/Video, Mail, FTP, NNTP News, Telnet, Socks, Secure Sockets, DNS, IMAP 4, etc.

The WinProxy Server may be installed and configured as follows as follows:

1. Install the TCP/IP protocol on all systems connected to the network.

2. Run the Install Wizard. The first screen is the product registration screen which require you to enter the product key.

3. The next two screens require information about your Internet connection. Select the type of connection and the name of your connection.

4. Enter the username and password of the Internet connection to be used.

5. WinProxy then configures the internal and external IP addresses. It automatically assigns a unique address to each device on the LAN as internal addresses. The IP address assigned to the modem/router by your ISP is taken as the external address.

6. WinProxy then prompts you to disconnect from the Internet if you are already connected.

7. In the final step WinProxy works through all the steps and verifies that all operations have been performed properly.
