Lunch: Tomato soup, roasted beef, radish, lettuce, tomato, pear and whole wheat chapatti with 1 cup of chopped vegetables.

Eat your food slowly. For snacks instead of fried items or sweets, try nuts or fruits and protein shake, or salads. Settle for sugar free and low carb options while buying ice creams and cakes.

Friday

Breakfast: 1/2 cup berries, a few almonds and 1 pint of fat free milk.

Lunch: Fat free beans and 1 chapati with vegetables or cheese, cucumber slices.

Dinner: Green salad with fat free dressing, chapati.

4 Sexy and Unusual Ways to Lose Weight

4 Sexy and Unusual Ways to Lose Weight

It may seem hard to take out time to hit the gym for a workout session. But how many of you are aware of some “naughty ways” to melt those extra kilos? Here, discover some of the most unusual and sexy ways that can help you in losing weight.

Get ready and indulge in these sexy-sins to say goodbye to your weight issues forever.

Kissing Burns Calories!

Showing affection through kissing is not just good for your relationship, but is excellent for your waistline also. On an average, kissing can burn around 2-5 calories per minute; however, a vigorous kiss can raise the ‘calorie’ meter further.  Many studies claim that while kissing, if you reach a point where both of you are breathing heavily, it's a sign that you are burning more calories. So, just inject some passion in your kiss to melt those pounds faster.

Sexy tip: Try kissing in unusual positions. You can burn more calories, if you are standing than sitting, and more moving than still.

Other sexy benefits of kissing:

Kissing lowers cholesterol and decreases high blood pressure.
An intense kiss requires almost all face muscles. So, kissing tones up your facial muscles and helps in fighting wrinkles.

Sex Diet

Yes, the sexiest mantra to lose that extra flab- Lots of Sex! Almost all muscles including the legs, shoulders and lower abdomen are worked upon during a session of love-making. On an average a half hour of sex burns about 200 calories. However, if you turn some basic exercises into foreplay, you can firm up your problem areas too. So, engage yourselves in moves like "love squats" to tone up your body.

Sexy tip: Incorporate sex in different positions to enhance its exercise effects.

Elvis-Pelvis Exercise:

Stand naked facing your partner and press your pelvises together for balance. Raise your arms to the ceiling and lean back while maintaining pelvic contact. Hold for three seconds, repeat five times. (You can refer Kerry McCloskey’s, the Ultimate Sex Diet book for more such exercises).

Undressing
Learning the art of ‘Undressing’ can also help you shed those kilos. Unhooking a bra with two hands burns up to 8 calories whereas doing it with one hand can burn up to 18 calories. Amazed? Don’t be! Here is another twist in the tale; according to an Italian researcher, if a man unhooks a bra using his mouth, he can burn up to 87 calories in the process. Now isn’t that interesting and easy? So, all you guys out there, now you certainly know where to begin your action from.

Sexy tip: Play a game with your partner where you both have to undress each other but without using your hands. It will be fun, sexy and great for your body.

Love Squats
This one is for all the new moms out there who are struggling to lose their post-pregnancy weight. Now, you can keep your legs in shape by doing some love squats using your toddler as a weight. Since it is very difficult to take out time for exercise after you have a baby, this is the best way to lose that extra flab from your body. Enjoy the giggles of your baby while exercising and start shedding your weight.

Exercises you can do: Baby squats, baby twists, baby chest presses.

Caution: Only do these exercises with a baby who has complete head control and who is fully capable of controlling his own body.

Useful Tip: For your convenience, here is a video which you may find helpful in your workout:

5 Foods that Fight the Flu

5 Foods that Fight the Flu

Worried about the flu, because seemingly everyperson is sneezing or coughing somewhere? You're not alone. And you don't need to rely on luck or that flu shot: There are plenty of immunity-boosting superfoods to help ward off a nasty case of the sniffles--check out these five that are guaranteed to make you feel good

Black Pepper:

Black pepper contains a compound called piperine, which not only gives pepper its spicy kick but is also believed to have anti-inflammatory and anti-fever properties. Add an extra few grinds to your soup or pasta sauce for a quick fever.

Cinnamon:

Top your oatmeal with this tasty spice or sprinkle it on apple slices for a snack--either way you may be helping to ward off a virus. That's because a study published in the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry suggests that specific plant terpenoids contained within cinnamon have potent antiviral properties.

Citrus Fruits:

Add a squeeze of lemon juice to your tea or some orange slices to your salad to feel better fast when you feel sickness coming on. While it is a common myth that large doses of vitamin C can prevent a cold, it is true that if you up your consumption of this antioxidant at the first signs of a cold, it can help you feel better faster.

Avocado:

Slice and eat on your sandwich for lunch or whip up some guacamole to get a healthy dose of heart-healthy fats. These monounsaturated fats help to reduce inflammation and help us to absorb vitamins like A, D, E and K, which are important for supporting the immune system

Low-fat Yogurt:

Recent research shows that people who had the lowest levels of vitamin D were far more likely to get the flu than those with the highest levels, and yogurt is a powerhouse source of it. Stir some into some tomato soup for a supremely creamy flavor.

9 Healthy Foods that Reduce Stress Levels

9 Healthy Foods that Reduce Stress Levels

Reach for these items next time you're feeling under pressure, under the weather, or just too close to that breaking point. Munching on these stress-free foods will help pull you back into the game.

1. Oranges

A German study in Psychopharmacology found that vitamin C helps reduce stress and return blood pressure and cortisol to normal levels after a stressful situation. Vitamin C is also well-known for boosting your immune system.

2. Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes can be particularly stress-reducing because they can satisfy the urge you get for carbohydrates and sweets when you are under a great deal of stress. They are packed full of beta-carotene and other vitamins, and the fiber helps your body to process the carbohydrates in a slow and steady manner.

3. Dried Apricots

Apricots are rich in magnesium, which is a stress-buster and a natural muscle relaxant as well.

4. Almonds, Pistachios & Walnuts

Almonds are packed with B and E vitamins, which help boost your immune system, and walnuts and pistachios help lower blood pressure.

5. Turkey

Turkey contains an amino acid called L-tryptophan. This amino acid triggers the release of serotonin, which is a feel-good brain chemical. This is the reason why many people who eat turkey feel relaxed, or even tired, after eating it. L-Tryptophan has a documented calming effect.

6. Spinach

A deficiency in magnesium can cause migraine headaches and a feeling of fatigue. One cup of spinach provides 40 percent of your daily needs for magnesium.

7. Salmon

Diets high in omega-3 fatty acids protect against heart disease. A study from Diabetes & Metabolism found that omega-3s keep the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline from peaking.

8. Avocados

The monounsaturated fats and potassium in avocados help lower blood pressure. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute says that one of the best ways to lower blood pressure is to consume enough potassium (avocados have more than bananas).

9. Green Vegetables
Broccoli, kale, and other dark green vegetables are powerhouses of vitamins that help replenish our bodies in times of stress.

More stress-busting tips:

- Exercise regularly
- Drink an energy shake for breakfast
 - Eat small meals throughout the day, which will keep your blood sugar stable (when blood sugar is low, mental, physical, and emotional energy decreases, and stress increases).

Top 10 – Skincare tips for the summer

Top 10 – Skincare tips for the summer

As the summer rages on, protect your skin so you don’t have to suffer from the season’s skin problems.

It’s the (hopefully) end of summer and while the monsoon should be here soon, for now the heat continues unabated. Fortunately, your skin needn’t take the brunt of the heat this season. We have for you, some tips that’ll help keep your skin fresh and dewy, even as the mercury continues to stay high.

Top 10 – Skincare tips for the summer
1. Stay hydrated. Your body tends to lose a lot of moisture in the summer, so it’s important to regularly replenish the H2O. Drink a lot of water and liquids and your skin will stay soft and moisturised as well.

2. Sun protection. If you can, try and stay indoors between 11am and 3pm. That’s when the sun’s rays are the strongest and can have an adverse effect on your skin. Also, don’t forget to apply that all-important sunscreen 30 minutes before you step out. If you’ve been out in the sun for a few hours, touch it up again so you’re well protected.

What should you look for when shopping for a sunscreen? Find out.

3. Use a toner. It’s important to keep your pores closed and skin cool by using a toner. Look for a brand that suits you or try rose water. Its natural cooling properties make it an excellent toner for the hot season.

4. Go for a water-based moisturiser. Don’t make the mistake of skipping the moisturising routine altogether as its essential for your skin to remain hydrated. However, if you find your regular moisturiser too oily, go for a water-based one.

5. Ditch those aerated drinks. Most people have the tendency to reach out for an ice cold aerated drink to quench their thirst on a really hot day. However, it’s important to remember that these drinks are full of sugar that is not good for your skin or your figure. Instead drink some water, fresh lime, fresh fruit juices, aam panna (green mango drink) or coconut water to stay hydrated. It’s also best to minimise the intake of diuretics like alcohol and caffeine as they reduce the water from your system.

6. Cleanse your face twice a day. At least! This is important to do even if you’ve been home all day and feel like your skin is clean. Cleansing and moisturising your skin before sleeping is an absolute must.

7. Exfoliate. More than the rest of the year, it’s really important to exfoliate your skin in the summer to remove dead skin and improve blood circulation to the face. Choose from any of the cosmetic scrubs available in the market or make one at home. Try this simple one using 4 to 5 tbsps of gram flour, a pinch of turmeric, 5 – 6 drops of rose water and milk or yoghurt. Mix it into a paste and use it to exfoliate your face. Follow it up with a facemask and moisturiser.

8. Don’t like your tan? Gram flour can also be used as a facemask to get rid of an uneven tan. Mix it with yoghurt and a few drops of lemon and apply and leave it on your face till it’s dry. The citrus properties of the lemon are very effective in removing the tan.

9. Get that warm, summer glow. Papaya is full of natural goodness and you can even use it as a homemade pack. Just mash 2 tbsp of papaya with a tsp of honey and 1 egg white. Leave the mixture on your face for about 15 minutes and enjoy the glow you get afterwards.

10. Cool your skin. Blending half a cucumber and 1 tbsp of yoghurt in the mixer can make another simple and effective homemade face pack. Apply this to your face for 15 minutes and feel completely pampered.

Bonus tip. Eat healthy, exercise and sleep well! The holy trinity of good health and glowing skin holds true for the whole year. So along with all the tips above, don’t forget to eat a balanced diet, work out for at least 45 minutes everyday and get 7 to 8 hours of sleep. Enjoy the summer!

Call a friend

Most of us are so caught up with our busy lives, that we prefer texting over calling. But, when in stress, it is always a good idea to pick up the phone and call up your friend. Just vent out whatever is floating in your mind and heart. Believe us, this will make you feel so light and fresh.

So, the next time you find yourself stressed out, leave your work station, call your best buddy and take that weight off your chest. Within 5 minutes you will be able to get things in perspective.

Stretch your limbs

If you sit for long you tend to feel a tension brewing around your neck and lower back. Physical tension is a major reason for mental stress. One of the easiest and quickest remedy is stretching. Try stretching your limbs and you will realise how relaxing it can be. So, next time you feel the pressure of the work getting to you, simply get up, stretch your arms and legs, move your neck around a few times and close your eyes for two minutes. This will release tension from your mind and body.

Visualise to clear your head
Most of the times, our mind tricks us into creating a web of stress inducing situations. So, it is a good idea to deceive your mind to believe that the there is no panic or stress. Sit down at a secluded spot and imagine yourself to be in a place of your choice. Find your happy place- it could be mountains, parks, beaches or a place familiar to you. Try to acknowledge the beauty around you and release all your worries. This will heal you in 5 minutes and get you going for the rest of the day.

Play music in loop
If you love music then you ought to have faith in its healing powers as well. Whenever you want to iron-out those creases from your forehead, listen to the genre of music you love most. It can be classical, jazz, instrumental, RnB or psychedelic. Music will put your mind to peace. It will also allow you to think more clearly. Try to keep your music library updated and carry your mp3 player with you. So, do we hear you play your favourite song streaming, already?

Go out for a walk
A 5 minute walk can work wonderfully on your stress. When you feel overwhelmed by the situation, just take a quick walk around. As you take the walk, don’t leave your mind in an auto-pilot mode, instead learn to exercise control over it. In no time will you see your troubles melt before you. Appreciate the present and stop concentrating on the uncertainty of the future. A walk will not only help in stress management, but also boost the happy hormones– endorphins. That will make you feel good for the rest of the day!

Exposing the truth about herbal remedies

Exposing the truth about herbal remedies

Most people assume herbal products to be safe and effective, while this may be true for some; it cannot and should not be generalized for all such remedies and treatments. Our predilection for herbal remedies probably stems from the deep rooted belief that anything that is natural will definitely work and if it doesn't, there wouldn't be any side effects at least. However, if this were true, Allopathy would have never existed. Moreover, contrary to popular perception if something is natural it doesn't necessarily will be side-effects-free.

It has become quite fashionable to opt for herbal remedies but are you aware of the risks of relying on herbal remedies? Just like everything, herbal remedies too have their advantages and disadvantages. You might know the advantages, but are probably unaware of the implications of opting for herbal remedies. Here are some of the popular misconceptions about herbal remedies and treatments.

They have no side effects

While this statement holds true for some products, it is not wholly right to assume that all herbal products are devoid of side effects. In fact, you might be shocked to know about the side effects of some common herbal remedies.

Neem
Neem is seen as a panacea, since it is believed to help in many conditions such as leprosy, intestinal problems, diabetes, gum diseases, liver problems and ulcers. However, the wonder product is sadly fraught with many side effects. Taking Neem during pregnancy can result in miscarriage. It is not advisable for children and infants. Other than causing diarrhea, vomiting and seizures it might lead to coma and even death.

Those suffering from Auto-immune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis should not consume Neem in any form, whatsoever. People who have undergone a surgery should avoid Neem, for it may hinder with the recovery process. It may also increase the risk of organ rejection in people who have just had an organ transplant. Neem is supposed to affect the fertility and sperm count and quality. Therefore, if you are trying to have children it would be best to avoid neem.

Papaya
Did you know that the humble papaya can cause a life threatening allergy known as anaphylaxis common in people who eat papaya often? If you happen to experience nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps after eating papaya, you might be dealing with this particular allergy so consult your doctor ASAP. Also, pregnant and breast feeding women should not eat Papaya because Papain, the enzyme found in it can be toxic to the developing fetus and a new born. If you are allergic to latex there is a high possibility that you might also be allergic to papaya as well.

Bottle guards
Perhaps, bottle gourds do not guard against diseases. Bottle guards owe their bitterness to cucurbitacins, a toxin that, if scientists are to be believed, can potentially kill humans. More the quantity of cucurbitacins, more will be the bitterness and thus more the chances of you becoming ill. Remember the case of Dr Sushil Kumar, a senior scientist at CSIR who died after consuming a glass of bottle guard juice in 2001?
However, certain people advocate drinking bottle guard juice as they believe that it aids in digestion and overall health of a person.

Green tea
Agreed, green tea helps in weight loss but nobody seems to be aware of how much green tea is good for the health. Scientific studies suggest that drinking green tea can cause stomach problems. They are also blamed for causing Anemia in regular green tea drinkers. Green tea contains tannins that greatly reduce the absorption of iron from intestines. If you are on prescriptions it is best to avoid taking any external herbal supplements and if you still wish to, it would be wise to consult your doctor.

Clove oil
Most people swear by this one. But, other than the fact that clove oil contains a chemical known as eugenol that is believed to lessen pain, there is no concrete evidence of its efficacy. Also, it is believed that ingesting clove in large amounts can prove to be dangerous.

They are safe for everyone

Herbal remedies are not for everyone. They are not safe for pregnant women, people suffering from certain diseases, the aged and children below 2 years of age.
They are scientifically tested

Scientific studies conducted to determine the effectiveness of herbal products have yielded inconclusive results. Herbal remedies aren't exactly foolproof and certain herbal products might actually aggravate the condition.

It is okay not to seek the advice of a doctor before opting for herbal remedies

Most people are of the belief that herbal remedies are so safe that they do not need to seek the advice of a doctor before trying them. You should always seek medical advice before going for herbal remedies.

Most herbal remedies are quite over rated probably because they come with the tag of "being natural" and anything that is natural becomes a hit with the masses. But, it is always wise to think before you leap. So, the next time you think of opting for some herbal remedy be sure that it does not have any side effect and is safe to use.

Tetris May Help Adults With Lazy Eye, Study Finds

Tetris May Help Adults With Lazy Eye, Study Finds

A classic arcade game could help adults with lazy eye, according to a small new study.

Researchers from McGill University found that Tetris, a puzzle-type game invented in 1984 that involves matching falling blocks, could help train the eyes of people with adult amblyopia (the scientific name for lazy eye).

Amblyopia occurs when the central vision in one eye isn't developed properly, and can lead to having crossed eyes or near- or far-sightedness, according to the American Optometric Association. Researchers noted that current remedies for treating lazy eye involve covering one eye in order to make the other eye work harder, but this method doesn't always work.

The new study, published in the journal Current Biology, involved 18 adults, all of whom had lazy eye. Researchers had half of the study participants play Tetris with just one eye (the stronger eye was patched). The other half of the participants played the game with both eyes unpatched, but they wore goggles so that "one eye was allowed to see only the falling objects, and the other eye was allowed to see only the ground plane objects," study researcher Dr. Robert Hess, the director of the Research Department of Opthalmology at the University and the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, said in a statement. "Forcing the eyes to work together, we believed, would improve vision in the lazy eye."

The study participants played the Tetris game for two weeks, after which researchers found that the study participants who used the goggles to play the game had better depth perception and improved vision of the weaker eye. Meanwhile, the participants who covered up their stronger eye with the patch only experienced some vision improvement. But when researchers had these study participants also try the goggles out, they experienced improved vision and depth perception.

This isn't the first time video games have been fingered as possible lazy eye therapies. Research published last year in the journal Optometry and Vision Science showed the potential use of specially designed video games to provide visual training for people with lazy eye.

Benefits of water

Benefits of water

Medical Benefits of Drinking Water On Empty Stomach. Must Read ......

DRINK WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH:

It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven its value. We publish below a description of use of water for our readers.

For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese medical society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:

Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy, excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine diseases, vomiting, gastritis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, womb, cancer and menstrual disorders, ear nose and throat diseases.

METHOD OF TREATMENT

1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water

2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minute

3. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.

4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours

5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.

6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life.

The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure/control/ reduce main diseases:
.
.
.

1. High Blood Pressure (30 days)
2. Gastric (10 days)
3. Diabetes (30 days)
4. Constipation (10 days)
5. Cancer (180 days)
6. TB (90 days)
7. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only
for 3 days in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onwards daily.

This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement of treatment you may have to urinate a few times. It is better if we continue this and make this procedure
as a routine work in our life. Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.

This makes sense..

The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals.. not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain.

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed.. It will slow down the digestion.

Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster
than the solid food. It will line the intestine.

Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer.
It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal
