Cooking & Recipis :  Potato Bonda


Potato –4
Onion – 2
Green chillies- 2 
Coriander leaves – few
Curry leaves - few 
Turmeric powder- ½ tsp 
Mustard - 1tsp
Urad dhal - 1 tsp
Bengal gram- 1 tsp 
Asafotida – a pinch
Oil – 4 to 6 teaspoon
salt – ½ teaspoon

Besan flour-2 cups 
Rice flour- ½ cup 
Maida – ¼ cup 
Chilli powder-1/2 tsp
Cooking soda -2 pinches
Salt – ½ teaspoon
Oil to deep fry 


Cook the potatos till soft and mash it finely. Heat a kadai and pour the oil. When the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and when it pops up, Urad dhal and Bengal grams and fry for a few minutes to a golden colour. Add Onion and green chillies chopped finely and fry for a while. Add mashed potatos, turmeric powder and salt and fry well. Add the chopped coriander leaves, curry leaves. Mix well and remove from stove. Cool it and make small lemon sized balls. 

In a bowl mix the flours with chilli powder, cooking soda and salt. Make a batter like thick dosa batter by adding water little by little. 

Heat oil in a kadai. When the oil becomes hot, take a ball, dip in the batter and drop it in the hot oil. Deep fry till it become golden brown.
